How many years do I have to sue for Personal Injury in Massachusetts?

For Massachusetts personal injury claims, you have three years to file a claim in a MA court. For most cases, you have three years from the date of the accident to file. But if you have an injury or problem that was dormant for some time after the accident, you have three years from the date of discovery of the issue.

If you plan on suing a city, country, or state government agency, then you have two years to file a claim and three years to bring forward a suit.

How Long Do Personal Injury Cases Take?

There’s no one answer to this question. It can vary greatly by each individual case. If you are suing an insurance company and they choose to settle, it can be a short time–a matter of weeks. But if the company or individual does not want to settle, then a case can take a lot longer. We strive to settle cases quickly and with the best outcome for our clients!
