Workers’ Compensation for Workplace Injuries

If you’ve been injured on the job and your injuries disable you for 6 or more days, you are eligible for worker’s compensation benefits. You can get reimbursement for medical bills and some of your lost wages.

But applying for and receiving these benefits is not always straightforward. You need someone who is skilled and experienced with the process to ensure that you get the full benefits you are entitled to.

We here at Eden Rafferty of Worcester are experienced Workers’ Compensation lawyers who have helped people receive their due benefits after experiencing:
  • Workplace accidents
  • Construction site accidents
  • Accidents involving commercial drivers and truck drivers
  • Exposure to asbestos (asbestos diseases)
  • Accidents causing injuries to construction workers
  • Industrial and manufacturing accidents
  • Accidents causing injuries to service industry workers
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Injuries not covered by workers’ compensation (third-party lawsuits)

Luckily, in Massachusetts, employers are required to have worker’s compensation for all of their employees. The insurance companies pay injured workers’ medical bills directly to the care providers and also pay a portion of your average weekly wage. But because insurance companies want to keep their benefits payments as low as possible, they may deny paying valid claims or seek to discontinue payments before the injured worker is able to return to work.

And sometimes, not all of your injuries are covered by worker’s compensation. When that happens, you’ll need to file a third-party lawsuit. If someone else who isn’t employed by your boss has contributed to your injury, then you can file against them and be awarded damages that you need to pay medical bills, lost wages, or cover pain and suffering.

Often, worker’s compensation claims are not easy or straightforward. If any form of negligence or recklessness is involved and contributed to your injury, you could be owed a lot more than Massachusetts worker’s compensation may be willing to give you. The only way for you to know for sure how much your case could be worth is to have a free consultation with an attorney from Eden Rafferty.
