Car accident sees local transit bus strike home
Posted In: Auto AccidentsA bizarre crash in Worcester led to serious damage of a local home when a bus driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the building. Massachusetts law enforcement investigators are investigating the cause of the car accident, but no charges have been filed so far. A number of people were injured in the crash.
According to reports, the bus was carrying three passengers in addition to the driver at the time of the accident. It was not immediately clear how the bus left the road but it struck a residential home hard enough to move the house seven feet off its foundation. A mother and three children inside the home were injured and taken to a local hospital.
The passengers on the bus were also remanded to medical care with undisclosed injuries. The bus driver was by far the most badly injured in the accident — it took authorities several hours to extricate him from the bus. The local police chief was not aware of any suspicion of drug or alcohol use related to the accident, but the local investigation is still ongoing.
The implications of this car accident could be far-reaching not only for the driver but for the company he represents. In addition to the possibility of personal injury law suits filed by both the passengers on the bus and the residents of the home that was struck, it is also possible the driver or the company may be held responsible for the property damage associated with the accident. Massachusetts civil court will deal with these potential suits separate from any criminal charges that may later be filed.
